A dosette box sorts your tablets into separate sections for each day and time, so it is easy to see what to take and when. We prepare them each week for patients who find it hard to keep track of several medicines.
Who a dosette box can help
- People taking lots of different medicines each day
- Anyone who sometimes forgets a dose or doubles up
- Carers who look after a family member’s medicines
- Patients coming home from hospital on a new routine
How we prepare your dosette box
Our team fills a sealed tray with the right tablets for morning, lunch, evening and bedtime. Each tray is labelled, so you can check what is inside. Then you collect it from the pharmacy each week, or a carer can pick it up for you.
Not every medicine can go in a tray. For example, some tablets need to stay in their original packaging. So, we look at your prescription first and talk to you, your carer or your GP about whether a dosette box is the best option.
Other ways we can help
If a tray is not suitable, large-print labels, easy-open lids or a medicine reminder chart can make things simpler. The NHS medicines tips for carers also has helpful ideas. To ask about a dosette box, pop in or call us on 0131 563 9123.
