Speciality Vaccines

Crighton Pharmacy offers a wide range of vaccines, not just travel vaccines. You can find a few of them below.

Shingles vaccine, one of our private vaccines

Private Service

Shingles Vaccine

The shingles vaccine helps protect you against shingles. It is suitable for people aged over 50.

This vaccine is called Shingrix. You need 2 doses, and the second dose comes 2 to 6 months after the first.

Even if you have had shingles before, the vaccine can still help, because it boosts your protection further.

Private Service

Pneumonia Vaccine

The pneumonia vaccine protects against 20 strains of pneumococcal bacteria. You need just one dose for long-lasting protection against pneumococcal pneumonia. Also, you can have it at any time of year, and you do not need a booster.

The infection spreads through coughing and sneezing, and it can affect anyone at any age. So, the vaccine can be useful if you are travelling to areas where pneumococcal infections are more common, such as parts of Africa.

We offer the pneumonia vaccine to anyone aged 18 or over.

Private Service

Chickenpox Vaccine

Chickenpox is a common infection caused by the varicella zoster virus. This highly contagious virus spreads through coughing, sneezing and direct contact.

It can affect people of all ages, but most people catch it in childhood. However, it can cause more serious problems in pregnancy or for people with a weakened immune system.

We offer the chickenpox vaccine to adults and children aged 1 to 65.

A full course is 2 doses, usually given 6 weeks apart.

How our private vaccines work

First, our pharmacist checks your age, health and vaccine history. Then they confirm which vaccine suits you and how many doses you need. For example, the shingles vaccine and the chickenpox vaccine are both given as 2 doses.

You can see every price on our vaccine price list. You can also read about the shingles vaccine on the NHS website, or book your vaccine online.
