Mounjaro

Mounjaro is a weight loss injecting drug
Contains the active ingredient Tirzepatide
Tirzepatide works by activating 2 receptors (GLP1 and GIP) to increase the levels of hormone in your body making you feel fuller for longer after a meal
The dosage is a Once a week self-injecting pen
Each pen has 4 dosages
Studies have shown upto 22.5% weight loss in patients
Patients must have a BMI of 30kg/m2 or more, or of at least 27kg/m2 and have a risk factor or a health condition that is affected by weight
Mounjaro is injected under the skin of the thigh, abdomen, or upper arm.
Dosage increments are increased every 4 weeks, the starting dose will be 2.5mg

Mounjaro starts to work within a few hours of your first injection, however to see weight loss effects this may take a few weeks
If your weight has not decreased by 5% in the first 6 months of using mounjaro, we may stop your medication

Each Pen is loaded with 4 fixed doses of 0.6mls
Each week you are to inject a dosage of 0.6mls into your skin
Upon receiveing the pen follow the instructions given to you by your pharmacist or the information leaflet given

Mounjaro is available in 6 strengths
- 2.5mg
- 5.0mg
- 7.5mg
- 10.0mg
- 12.5mg
- 15.0mg
Each strength is given each week for 4 weeks
Depending on how your respond, you can stay at this dosage or increase the dosage in a 2.5mg step wise approach
Missed doses: If a dose is missed, it should be administered as
soon as possible and within 4 days after the missed dose. If more
than 4 days have passed, the missed dose should be omitted and
the next dose should be administered as planned. Patients can
then resume their regular once weekly schedule.
If more doses are missed, consider reducing the dose to re-initiate treatment.
The day of weekly administration can be changed if necessary as
long as the time between two doses is at least 3 days (>72 hours).
After selecting a new dosing day, once-weekly dosing should be
continued
